the (ife hr. more) now secularized monastery of Panagia Skopidtissa.
A wide panorama is commanded from the summit, Tourla (1590 ft.),
above the monastery. In descending we cross the shining white rocks
of the Asprapania to the E., and reach the carriage-road at a bridge,
Ife hr. to the S. or' Hag. Evstathios. — On the bay of Keri. about
S^M. to the S.W., are the curious springs (3 ft. deep), mentioned
by Heiodotus, in which pitch bubbles up along with the water. The
pitch is collected and used for caulking boats.
