Stafford House, or Sutherland House (PL J10), in St. James's
Park, between St. James's Palace and the Green Park, the residence
of the Duke of Sutherland, is considered the finest private mansion
in London , and contains a fine collection of paintings, which at
present is only shown by special permission of the proprietor.
