HILE the beginning of any undertaking is attended with difficulties,
we have endeavored to let no such obstacles which attend the combi¬
nation of the Annuals of the College and the Theological Depart¬
ments cause a deterioration in the usual excellence of our book. On
the contrary, we have tried to utilize all the opportunities which
the conditions afford for betterment and to give to our subscribers the best Emory
Annual that has ever been published. We trust that this joint production will
serve as a representation of an indissoluble synthesis of interest in the two Depart¬
ments and that the union is only a beginning of the greater Universitv center.
