Rejoicing in Hope. C. M.
I O joyful sound of gospel grace !
Christ shall in me appear ;
I, even I, shall see his face;
I shall be holy here.
2 The glorious crown of righteousness
To me reached out I view ;
Conqu'ror through him, I soon shall seize,
And wear it as my due.
3 The promised land from Pisgah's top
I now exult to see :
My hope is full ( O glorious hope ! )
4 He visits now the house of clay;
He shakes his future home ;
O wouldst thou, Lord, on this glad day,
Into thy temple come !
5 With me, I know, I feel, thou art;
But this cannot suffice,
Unless thcu plantest in my heart
A constant paradise.
248 The heart dissolving in Love. CM.
I Jesus hath died that I might live,
Might live to God alone;
In him eternal life receive,
And be in spirit one.
2 Saviour, I thank thee for the grace,
The gift unspeakable :
And wait with arms of faith t' embrace,
And all thy love to feel.
3 My soul breaks out in strong desire
The perfect bliss to prove;
My longing heart is all on fire
To be dissolved in love.
4 Give me thyself; from every boast,
From every wish set free :
Let all I am in thee be lost;
But give thyself to me.
5 Thy gifts, alas! cannot suffice,
Unless thyself be given ;
Thy presence makes my paradise,
And where thou art is heaven.
