"Overall, God blessed forever." L. M.
I The day of Christ, the day of God,
We humbly hope with joy to see,
Washed in the sanctifying blood
Of an expiring Deity—
2 Who did for us his life resign:
There is no other God but one;
For all the plentitude divine
Resides in the eternal Son.
3 Spotless, sincere, without offence,
O may we to his day remain !
Who trust the blood of Christ to cleanse
Our souls from every sinful stain.
4 Lord, we believe the promise sure!
The purchased Comforter impart!
Apply thy blood to make us pure—
To keep us pure in life and heart!
5 Then let us see that day supreme,
When none thy Godhead shall deny!
Thy sovereign majesty blaspheme,
Or count thee less than the Most High.
113 L. M.
Praise to God for his Perfections and Providence.
I Praise ye the Lord : my heart shall join
In work so pleasant, so divine:
My days of praise shall ne'er be past,
While life, and thought, and being, last.
2 Happy the man whose hopes rely
On Israel's God : he made the sky,
And earth, and seas, with all their train;
And none shall find his promise vain.
3 His truth forever stands secure :
He saves th' oppressed, he feeds the poor,
He helps the stranger in distress,
The widow and the fatherless.
4 He loves the saints ; he knows them well,
But turns the wicked down to hell:
Thy God, O Zion, ever reigns;
Praise him in everlasting strains.
114 The Grace of Christ.
I Now to the Lord a noble song!
Awake, my soul; awake, my tongue ;
Hosanna to th' Eternal Name,
And all his boundless love proclaim.
2 See, where it shines in Jesus' face,
The brightest image of his grace:
God, in the person cf his Son,
Has all his mightiest works outdone.
3 The spacious earth and spreading flood
Proclaim the wise, the powerful God;
And thy rich glories from afar,
Sparkle in every rolling star:
4 But in his looks a glory stands,
The noblest labor of thy hands;
The pleasing lustre of his eyes
Outshines the wonders of the skies.
Doxology. L. M.
