Renewing of a Covenant. Jer. i. 4. C,
J Come, let us use the grace divine,
And all, with one accord,
In a perpetual cov'nant join
Ourselves to Christ the Lord.
2 Give up ourselves through Jesus' pow'r
His name to glorify;
And promise in this sacred hour,
For God to live and die.
3 The cov'nant we this moment make
Be ever kept in mind :
We will no more our God forsake,
Or cast his words behind.
4 We never will throw off his fear,
Who hears our solemn vow ;
And if thou art well pleas'd to hear,
Come down and meet us now !
5 Thee, Father, Son and Holy Ghost,
Let all our hearts receive;
Present with the celestial host,
The peaceful answer give.
6 To each the cov'nant blood apply,
Which takes our sins away;
And register our names on high,
And keep us to that day. c. Wesley.
'.26 Opening Worship. C.
.1 Once more we come before our God;
Once more his blessings ask :
O may not duty seem a load
Nor worship prove a task!
Father, thy quick'ning Spirit send
From heaven in Jesus' name,
To make our waiting minds attend,
And put our souls in frame.
3 May we receive the word we hear,
Each in an honest heart:
And keep the precious treasure there,
And never with it part.
4 To seek thee all our hearts dispose,
To each thy blessings suit.
And let the seed thy servant sows
Produce abundant fruit. Hart.
27 Love of Christ celebrated. C. M.
I To our Redeemer's glorious name
Awake the sacred song!
O, may his love—immortal flame__
Tune every heart and tongue.
2 His love what mortal thought can reach!
What mortal tongue display!
Imagination's utmost stretch
In wonder dies away.
3 Dear Lord, while we, adoring, pay
Our humble thanks to thee,
May every heart with rapture say,
"The Saviour died for me."
4 O, may the sweet, the blissful theme
Fill every heart and tongue,
Till slrangers love thy charming name
And join the sacred song.
