Or, A Colored Man's Reply to Bishop Foster. 85
No one can read the thirty replies to Dr. Hartzell's enquiry
■without concluding that the opinions are diversified. Those who
have spoken for the people in special territories, have assumed con¬
siderable responsibility- It looks now from the present agitation
in the Church that there i-> not only restlessness among the colored
but the white as well. Discussion and inquiry are likely to be
continued until the Church re-affims h»r past position before the
world or takes a New Departure. Which is likely to be ? Who
will prophesy ?
